KD Around the World - English Version

Blog English Version KD around the World

Our project began in September, 2009 with researches about exchange and which countries we could study English. After that, we saved money for our trip and had chosen exchange agency.  With information about countries we decided to go London. Then on 2nd July, 2010, our dream was come true.

First Week - ENGLAND
We left Rio de Janeiro to Paris exactly on day that Brazil soccer team was eliminated from World Cup 2010. In Paris, we got a connection to London flying by British AirWays. Arriving in London, our first thing to do was to pass by immigration. It was very difficult for us, because was the first time that we used English Language without translator.

Although we had a little bit of difficult, we were very well for this our first impact.
In our first day at English school, we knew lots of foreign students came from countries as Turkey, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Russia and Colombia. The best of everything was that all of them could understand each other.

After attended the classes, we walked around London for visit the main places of this extraordinary city that doesn’t have anything of gray. In this week we visited places as The Big Ben, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, House of Parliament, St. Pancras Station, Palace of Buckingham, Picadilly Circus, Regent Park and the British Library.

Curiosity of the week: Their parks are very clean and used for friends meeting mainly after work. Besides that, the people sleep quietly on the grass into the parks.

Second Week

In this week we visited a lot of museums, all of them had free entrance. For example, in The Natural Museum there were many dinosaurs’ bones and one full skeleton dinosaur inside the museum. Besides that, there were lots of stuffed animals as birds, spiders, monkeys and bugs.

The Science Museum is one of most incredible museums we have already seen, because there are many interesting things as The Trip to the Moon, spaceships, astronaut’s foods and clothes, F1 cars (McLaren), 3D movies and others things relational with human evolution history.

Then, after we saw old places we decided to visit another kind of building. We visited three football stadiums, the most popular London’s Teams. The Emirates Stadium belonging to Arsenal team and it is an amazing architecture. After that, we took the tube (subway) to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s Stadium. The last and biggest stadium that we visited in London was Wembley Stadium, a public stadium used by the English team. Although we had visited many stadiums, we couldn’t watch any game during our trip because of The World Cup in Africa.

All days after we visit this places we stopped for rest and enjoy some pints of beer in a traditional London pub. The London people use these places for meet friends and talk about business or sports therefore they make the real happy-hour.
London is an amazing city that has people from each corner of the world.

Curiosity of the week: We climbed five hundred thirty steps from Saint Paul’s Cathedral this church was rebuilt in 1666 after the biggest fire of London.

 Third Week - FRANCE

In the third week we arrived in Paris by train, the famous Eurostar. This train passes under the sea between England and France.

We visited the most important places in Paris as Triumph Arc, Champs Elysees Street, Eiffel Tower, Gardens of Luxembourg, Louvre Museum, Notre Dame and Sacre-Coeur. On the Champs Elysses Street have many stores as fashion, cars, beauty and expensive restaurants. In each side of this street have important places: on one side there are the Louvre Museum and on the other side the Triumph Arc.

In the Triumph Arc, we climbed two hundred eighty four steps to the top of the Arc. It’s a beautiful monument where there are twelve streets that begin or end in the same place. Because of this the traffic is a messy where there isn’t order without police.

Some of the most famous places in the world are in Paris, in the Louvre Museum, there are a lot of important paintings like Monalisa and Davi and Golias, sculptures from Greece and Egypt like Milos of Venus and objects of ancient civilization. This museum contemplates eight thousand years of world culture. Besides this incredible places, still exist the Eiffel Tower, the paid monument most visited in the world. This big tower has three hundred and twenty-four meters. Finalizing this, the Seine River is near of the tower like a postal card.

Curiosity of the week: Carpaccio (raw meat) and Foie gras (duck liver) are traditional food in France. We eat both dishes during the trip and the food has a unique taste.

Forth and Last WeekITALY

In the last week we arrived in Italy: Mama Mia! In this country is impossible don’t eat much because there are lots of delicious restaurants. The first city that we visited was Rome, one of most important civilizations of the history. In Rome we couldn’t stay stopped because there were a lot of monuments that we wanted to visit as Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Vatican and Pantheon.

When we arrived in front of Coliseum, it was like a movie passing in our heads because everything that we learned in school we were seeing personally. After to visit the Coliseum and to learn a little bit more about history we kept walking until the next historical monument.

The Vatican, where live the Pope and it is the center of Catholic Church, we visited the Basilica of Saint Peter. It’s a huge place with some sculptures as Pietà and Michelangelo’s paintings. After that, we walked around Rome for visit Trevi Fountain and Pantheon.

From this moment, we rented a car to go to Florence, Milan and Venice. When we arrived in Venice we went to know the classical Venetian boat, the gondola. The gondola ride is very interesting and it’s possible to see the city in the best angle.

Curiosity of the week: In Milan, there are many famous and expensive brands of clothes and cars. Brands as Ferrari, Gucci, Armani and Lamborghini are extremely normal to see in the city. The city is known as Fashion Capital.
